Welcome to my corner of the digital world! I am a social science researcher with a strong interdisciplinary focus at the intersection of global health and development policy. I hold a PhD specializing in Development Policy from Hiroshima University, and my work centers on understanding how health outcomes are shaped by social, economic, and environmental forces — particularly in low-income settings such as Nepal.
.I am broadly interested in how social and structural factors shape human well-being across a range of socioeconomic outcomes, with a focus on understanding and evaluating development policies.
Over the years, I have combined large-scale field surveys, hospital-based data, and spatial environmental datasets to unpack complex, policy-relevant questions. For example, I led a quasi-experimental evaluation of Nepal’s Female Community Health Volunteer (FCHV) program, deploying off-grid tablet systems to collect high-quality data across remote districts, and now analyze intergenerational outcomes using advanced statistical methods.
My commitment to interdisciplinary social science research extends beyond health to a wider set of socioeconomic outcomes — including education, gender equity, environmental exposure, and poverty reduction. I believe that rigorous social science can generate insights that directly inform and improve public policy. I aim for my research to contribute to sustainable development and social equity.
In addition to research, I have extensive experience teaching courses in health economics, development studies, and research methods at both undergraduate and graduate levels. I have also mentored students on research methods and quantitative analysis. Outside academia, I collaborate with governments, NGOs, and international organizations through policy advisory work, and knowledge translation initiatives.
